Educational trail Diery or Jánošíkovské diery (Jánošík’s Holes) if you wish, is one of the most favorite and visited routes in beautiful surroundings of Krivánska Malá Fatra (Krivánska Little Fatra). You will be certainly amazed by fabulous passes and canons. The route leads along two waterfalls on wooden footbridges with handrails. There is no need to be afraid. The route through the holes is not difficult for children either.
Follow blue tourist signs from the parking lot by the Hotel Diery and after a half an hour you will see the most beautiful part of the educational trail Ostrvné. There you can deeply enjoy a giant stone canyon where Dierový potok (the Brook of Diery) flows through. Behind the canyon, follow blue signs to Podžiar where you may find several educational boards. Podžiar is the place where Dolné Diery (Lower Holes) finishes. You may find a buffet in a small blockhouse where you can refresh yourself and rest on benches or in a meadow by the water. You will return following the same route. Drop by on Hotel Diery for lunch where you can taste our traditional Slovak cuisine.
The base station for the Vrátna – Chleb cable cars is right by the bus terminus at the Chata Vrátna chalet. It is a popular tourist attraction used by hikers, skiers and snowboarders. The lower station is at an altitude of 744 m above sea level and the upper station is at 1,494 m. Cars travel at up to 6 m/s. They climb 750 m in a relatively short distance. The lift is useful for hikers who want to save their legs for a ridge walk and it cuts a 2-hour ascent to just under 10 minutes. Even if you don’t want to hike, it is worth a trip to admire the view from the terrace of the Panorama restaurant. The cable cars run all year round.

Did you know that the densest network of cycling routes in Slovakia is around the village of Terchová? Right there opposite the church, there is a point where most of the cycling routes in Slovakia start. Whether you are a recreational cyclist or a devotee of strenuous mountain cycling, you will certainly choose from a rich variety of cycling routes. Cycling routes around Žilina, Terchová or Bystrická dolina (Bystrická Valley) are perfect for families with children as well as for the most demanding cyclists.
On its limestone crag on the left bank of the River Váh, Strečno Castle stands proudly above the village of the same name. It could have been created as a destination for outings with children. We are sure that a few dozen steps will not deter you from visiting one of the most heavily fortified castles on the upper Váh. Will you manage to conquer this fortress?
In a picturesque environment of Kysuce region, not far from the village of Nová Bystrica, there is a fabulous place. Small wooden houses are scattered around the valley. Charming water mill or a chapel would allure you to come and experience this magical atmosphere in person.
After a pleasant walk through the open-air museum, do not miss the ride on Historical Logging Switchback Railway. This switchback system is one of the two which are preserved in Europe nowadays.

The Kysuce village of Stará Bystrica offers a treasure, the likes of which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. It holds several records such as being the most accurate astronomical clock in the world and the only one in Slovakia.

Historic buildings, many cosy cafés and restaurants, the small shops lining one of the longest pedestrian zones in Slovakia – this is Žilina town centre. When strolling around the town, take time to enjoy the Andrej Hlinka Square and the Mariánske Square, which has been declared a Town Conservation Reservation. This has the largest density of historic buildings reflecting the history of the town. Stop and spend some time in each of them.
Medzi obcami Stará Bystrica a Radôstka nájdete rozhľadňu Bobovec. Rozhľadňa na vrchu Bobovec má výšku 16 metrov. Je vybudovaná z tradičných materiálov kameň a drevo. Vedeli ste, že rozhľadňa počas noci i svieti? Preto ju ľahko nájdete aj počas nočných výprav na vrchol.
Pohľad na hrad Strečno od Váhu pozná asi každý. Ale čo tak si ho pozrieť z vtáčej perspektívy? V tom prípade odporúčame vyliezť na vrch, ktorý sa nachádza napravo od hradného brala. Aj keď nepatrí medzi dominanty Lúčanskej Malej Fatry (620 m n. m.), na svoje skromné výškové pomery je relatívne strmý. A práve na jeho najvyššom bode vyrástla rozhľadňa.
Vyhliadka na Dubni sa nachádza na vrchu Dubeň, čo je vrch (s nadmorskou výškou 613 m n. m.) ležiaci nad mestom Žilina a obcou Teplička nad Váhom. Rozhľadňa slúži najmä ako turistická atrakcia a ponúka tak návštevníkom príjemné trávenie voľného času s rodinami a priateľmi. Okrem toho samozrejme poskytuje nezameniteľný výhľad na naše mesto a okolitú prírodu. Môžete si ho vychutnať z výšky 27,4 metra a to priamo z najvyššieho 10. podlažia tohto architektonického skvostu.
Rozhľadňa Terchovské srdce je poslednou zo zastávok už dlho existujúceho náučného chodníka, ktorý je zameraný na spoznávanie fauny a flóry Národného parku Malá Fatra. Vyhliadkovú vežu budete vidieť už z príchodu do Terchovej v smere od Žiliny. Rozhľadňu navrhol Alojz Mucha. Vedie k nej asi 1 km dlhá nenáročná turistická trasa začína v centre Terchovej a zvládnu ju všetky vekové kategórie turistov a dokonca aj mamičky s kočíkmi.
Kilometre upravených zjazdoviek, rozprávkovo nádherná príroda, nekonečné možnosti nielen pre lyžiarov, ale aj snowboardistov - zima v Malej Fatre láka turistov na návštevu. Dokonalé podmienky pre všetkých od prvých krokov na lyžiach až po skúsených lyžiarov vyhľadávajúcich najťažšie zjazdovky. Zlatá perla celej doliny s najstrmšou zjazdovkou na Slovensku. Severne orientovaný ťažký svah s prevýšením až 750 m je prístupný modernou 8-miestnou kabínkovou lanovkou končiacou tesne pod hrebeňom Malej Fatry vo výške 1 494 m.
Lyžiarske stredisko Vrátna Malá Fatra patrí medzi najnavštevovanejšie strediská zimných športov. Rodinnú atmosféru nasajete v stredisku Ski Gavurky, ktoré je ako stvorené pre začiatočníkov a deti.
