Cycling trail Žilina - Straník – Radoľa

Description:
You should start in Žilina – Budatín on the old road to the centre of Teplička nad Váhom. If you want to make a whole-day trip from Terchová, you can get to Žilina through the foothills of Malá Fatra along the cycling trail No. 038 – red and No. 5476 – green. A 5 km long ascent from Teplička in altitude of 350 m, through the square to Straník in altitude of 769 metres is a bit steep. The section from the church in Zástranie to the peak of Straník is really tough. Those who would like to spare some energy do not have to ascend to Straník, but they can continue along the green trail to Kotrčiná Lúčka. However, the view from Straník is really worth some hard work. From the lookout tower on Straník you can enjoy a nice view of Teplička nad Váhom, Žilina – the beautiful valley of the river Váh. After enjoying the view and having some rest you should return back to Zástranie and continue to Kotrčiná Lúčka around the farmer’s cooperative to Prostredný Vadičov. In the village you should turn left and through Dolný Vadičov, Lopušné Pažite you should arrive to Radoľa. There you can see a nice manor house. The green trail will lead you through meadows and forests to Snežnica. In Snežnica you can have a beer at the square under the old fire station, you can rest for a while and continue back to Zástranie, and then along the road through Zádubnie to Žilina. These roads are not busy and are suitable for cycling. You can get back to Terchová from Zástranie along the blue trail No. 2405 through Horný Vadičov. The whole trip from Terchová and back is over 80 km long!
