Cycle route around the Žilina Reservoir

Description:
A simple cycling trail suitable for families with children. A major part of the trail goes along an asphalt road along an embankment. A shorter part of the trail along river Váh to Budatín is made of gravel. This cycling trail leads to the revitalised garden of Budatín Castle, where you can find bicycle stands and benches and where you can have a rest. You can also read about how logs had been floated down the river Váh in the past and other interesting historical information. And you can see “wooden” raftmen there, too. A “cycling meridian” is placed at the entrance to the Budatín Castle. However, it you want to see it, you have to push the bicycles through the castle park, as it is a pedestrian’s zone. There are several rest places and shelters on the way from the Castle Park to the Water Reservoir Žilina, and there is a “Swan pond” too. You can find some refreshment at the restaurant by the water reservoir. After spending a day on bicycles, you can end your day in a pleasant way in the children park in village Mojš.
