Educational trail Fojtov potok

Enjoy the beautiful nature and fresh air during a walk along the educational trail “Fojtov potok brook” at Kysuce. It is a circuit trail that starts and ends in Zborov nad Bystricou. The information boards inform tourists about various interesting facts and on both sides of the trail you can see the remains of old – so-called – “cholvárky” (seasonal shepherds’ dwellings). Many of them were rebuilt and are used for recreational purposes. Several protected plant and animal species live there. It is a nice one hour walk suitable also for the littlest ones.

You can visit the Cross and the Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Zborov – the pilgrimage site in the mountains of Kysuce. The fourteen Stations of the Cross are placed in two rows on the sides of the hills and are connected by a zigzag path. Cyclists can join the Kysuce cycling artery that goes across the village and they can continue in direction to Krásno nad Kysucou. There is a sport area with climbing wall, bowling and fitness. Children would certainly love to see the replica of a female mammoth in the Museum of National History. Art enthusiasts can visit the smallest Slovak gallery in the same building as the museum. If you decided to go in the opposite direction, you arrive to Stará Bystrica and its unique astronomical clock that is really worth seeing. The clock chimes every hour so you should plan your visit properly.
